Working as civil servant in local schools and dealing with daily routines encourages Ms. Hastuti to do something meaningful for community.
Hastuti works as public elementary school principal in East Java, and she is really keen to change the fact that in rural areas of Indonesia many children tend to not continue their study after middle school, and decide to have low-income-jobs instead.
She thinks the mindset needs to change, and book is one of many tools to broaden children’s horizon and inspire them to develop. That is one of the main reasons of her plan to build a library in the school she is working.
Located in a farmer village, Hastuti also faces organic waste problem in daily basis. Not to mention the lack the waste management system in the village.
Combination of those problems makes Hastuti highly appreciates green-books’ environmental education program as something to help her missions accomplished. Even though she is busy with her job as school principal, she always spares some time to apply eco-activities to students.
Hastuti hopes one day all of her students will apply sustainable lifestyle in full consciousness. She is very sure that education is the best key to make it happen.
