TBM Rumah Mentari is operated by Ibu Mita and her friends, who attract the local children to promote reading and storytelling 6 times a week.
However, they are concerned about the worsening issues of households burning plastic, polluting rivers with non-organic waste and usage of toxic pesticides by local farmers.
Therefore, Ibu Mita and friends want to make kids interested in nature and shift the focus of TBM Rumah Mentari toward eco-activities. They plan to establish a waste collection center (Bank Sampah), try to produce upcycling products and initiate community organic gardening projects to tackle the environmental issues.
This Eco-Education Center’s funding is made possible by Zelena pro Indonesii (Green for Indonesia) crowdfunding campaign at Hithit.com.
