Mrs. Munasichah is one of the two school librarians running the library from 7am till 1:30pm, Monday to Saturday. The school encourages its students to read more by organizing a competition every semester, where students will be asked to find a book they like to read and write a summary about it.
The school recently sent the application to become an Adiwiyata School (Green School) so one of their core values is to promote sustainable lifestyle. As there is a small plot of land in front of each class, students also compete with each other for the most beautiful garden.
According to Mrs. Munasichah, people in the village are quite ignorant about environmental issues, they just throw rubbish everywhere. Another problem is that during the dry season, the wells run dry and the crops fails. They depend heavily on rain water.
The funding of this Eco-Education Center is made possible by the donors of green-books.org’s crowdfunding campaign at startsomegood.com.
