026 / Nanggulan, Klaten, Central Java
Nanggulan is a rather underdeveloped area where some kids don’t even attend school.
Mr. Ari Pujianto and Mr. Daniel Tukiman took the initiative in solving their area’s problems by establishing Bimbingan Belajar Sahabat in 2012. Their mission is to engage local children in positive activities and equip them with skills they may need in the future.
There are currently 8 volunteers giving maths, arts, drawing and English classes, 4-5 times per week. Another group of volunteers are also participating to give lectures about the environment, waste management and hydroponics.
There are approximately 40 kids joining this non-formal education. The Eco-Education Center is an addition to the existing books from Jakarta Kumpul Buku.
This Eco-Education Center’s funding is made possible by Zelena pro Indonesii (Green for Indonesia) crowdfunding campaign at Hithit.com.
