029 / Ambore, Rote Island, East Nusa Tenggara
Rote island, located between Sumba and Timor is entering international spotlight thanks to its epic waves. However, its economic development also brings negative issues, namely waste pollution and coral reef damage.
Mrs. Kim Slippens from Germany, who calls Rote her home, wants to challenge the damage of Rote’s ecosystem by establishing a “green” school and spreading environmental awareness to the youth.
Since the school is still in the planning stage, the first step is now opening a small library in her house and making the kids curious about the environment through books about nature.
