047 / Caringin, Bogor, West Java – Community Eco-Library
Mrs. Heni used to work in Hong Kong as an Indonesian migrant worker for several years. She has always loved reading and she put away some money so she could buy her favorite books. She collected more than 500 books and when she came back to Indonesia she started running a library.
She has set up 7 libraries and 1 mobile library and among them, Caringin was chosen to be equipped with our “green books”. Mrs Heni has initiated another program called farming education where she takes school students to rice fields and teaches them about farming.
She also educates them on how to reuse mineral water bottles and the 3R principles. As she takes environmental issues very seriously, she also provides training for waste collectors.
This Eco-library is entirely funded by Tomáš Vítek through green-books.org’s crowdfunding campaign at startsomegood.com.
Generous donation from supporter like you have funded more than 80 Eco-Education Centers across Indonesia. Join the movement by donating today.
