120 / Yenbuba, Raja Ampat, West Papua
Mrs. Wisye is a Math teacher at Middle School in Yenbuba village, Raja Ampat. She has been teaching since 2011. She is also an entrepreneur operating Mangrove Homestay. She opens her place, once a week (friday or sunday), for the local children to come to read and do activities such as drawing, learning about nature and environmental cleanliness (trash picking in the village area).
Yenbuba is a tourism village, it is located in Raja Ampat National Park. It has beautiful beaches and corals, also has many different type of fishes. However, the people are facing an issue regarding waste. They don’t know haw to manage their waste and there is no waste management in the area. Local people also still have very low awareness about environment and cleanliness, so they still throw garbage not in the right place even though there are trash bins provided.
The motivation of Mrs. Wisye is to keep the environment and nature protected. By encouraging the local children and by raising the environmental awareness of the children. So that in the future, next generations still can enjoy the nature.
