Mr. Zulkifli is an entrepreneur at the traditional market with middle school teaching experience. Recently he established a Reading Club called Taman Baca Permata Hati in his house. He did so, to help the local people, who don’t have enough money to buy books for their children.
He spends only half of his day working at the market, so he can dedicate more of his time to the Reading Club. In his spare time he takes the kids to go to the woods, for example to collect edible mushrooms.
The river near the village is polluted by sugar factory waste runoffs. The water level is declining, while common people don’t have enough funds to drill deeper wells. During the dry season it’s difficult to get access to water.
Mr. Zulkifli hopes that the eco-education program will help the children understand their environment and protect it in the future. The area is in utter need for environmental education!
