Pak Imam works as a farmer and a teacher at MI Nuruh Huda Srimulyo. The majority of people there are farmers in the surrounding rice fields and rubber plantations.
The school doesn’t have enough funding to provide the library with new books. The government funding is only good enough to pay the salaries of the 10 teachers. They have a scouts project, in which the teachers sometimes take the kids to go trekking in the nearby hills.
It is located in a flat lowland, which recently had to start struggling with floods. There are tofu production establishments in the village which are polluting the water. There is a main dump site, but the pick up system does not work. As a result, the villagers often burn the garbage.
Pak Imam says: “I hope the Eco-Education program will help us to gain more knowledge and to motivate the students to reads more books.”
