Jhon works with the NGO The Kukang Program to give education to local communities about wildlife, nature and the ecosystem. The purpose is to stop them from hunting the slow loris in the area. He loves animals and nature.
The Eco-Education Center will be placed in the community library. The village of Kuta Male is located in the highlands that border a protected forest area. Local people are living as farmers from corn and candlenut. They make some extra money by hunting for slow lorises and civet, which is also why the wildlife is decreasing.
Jhon plans to introduce a non formal environmental education for kids in the Eco-Education Center, with reading and workshops for parents to make traditional karo baskets for additional income.
