096 / Pandat, Pandeglang, Banten – Community Eco-Library
The Eco-Library will be located at TBM Mentabel Huda, in Pandat, a highland village near the mountains, 18 km from the nearest town. The local people are living from farming rice, corn, horticulture, chili, tomato etc.
Mr. Agung is a teacher at the local school, who also established the TBM Mentabel Huda. Its purpose is to provide community space and books to read for the students and villagers.
Currently they provide a guided reading program: kids choose a book, read it and then share it with other kids to discuss it. They also do upcycled artwork from used paper and fabric.
It is problematic that the people still throw garbage in the river. It is clogging the sewers and causing floods in the rainy season. Therefore Mr. Agung hopes the community will learn more about waste management and sustainable agriculture.
Previous supporters have funded more than 60 Eco-Libraries across Indonesia. You can join the movement by donating today.
