The Eco-Education Center will be running in El-Hidayah, Middle and High school, serving 450 students. Mrs. Mahfudoh was a former student at the school. After she graduated, she became a teacher and now she is the library manager.
She also took national library training, which opened her eyes and motivated her to make a change. Her goal is to motivate and develop the interest of students to read books. She also wants her students to apply what they have read in the books to their everyday life and in their community.
The village doesn’t have a community landfill. At school, they collect the garbage until it gets too big, which is when they burn it. Teachers and students have a lack of knowledge about waste management.
So far, every 3 months the school organizes a gardening program in the school garden and they are eager to learn composting.
