075 / Dangin Puri Kangin, Kota Denpasar, Bali – School Eco-Library
Mr. I Made Apriwan is a book aficionado. He played a big role in reviving the library in his school. He set up the categorization system, the mechanism of borrowing books and he encouraged students to read.
And now around 40 students are reading there on a daily basis. In order to create interest in literacy, the school holds several events such as speech or poem recital competitions. They also regularly send their students to participate in Balinese language competitions.
In terms of environmental activities, the school has not yet introduced any big-scale activities, just weekly clean ups of the school area.
Mr. I Made Apriwan says: “A lot of students are not aware of throwing their rubbish into the bins. So I hope the Eco-Library program can help change their minds.”
