There is trash everywhere in the area where Budi Permana lives due to the lack of knowledge about the danger of trash in the society and also the lack of public trash bin in public spaces. This situation has inspired Budi to teach children in his neighborhood about the danger of plastic and how to minimize the trash by using the Zero Waste School program.
Every Friday, the children will gather and play at the private library yard and learn about the danger of plastic and how to minimize the trash from the program’s activities.
“The Zero Waste School program gives a hands-on way of learning in a fun way, which I think it’s the best way to teach children about waste management,” said Budi. Now, the children and the teachers have Tasini eco-bags, a motivational reward from Green-Books.org, which they can use when they go shopping instead of using plastic bags.
Budi wishes to continue inspiring children about sustainability, starting from the waste management. Hopefully, the children will not only learn how to throw the trash properly and sort them into categories, but also learn about how to manage organic waste easily.
